Mieszko | Independence Cruise

The boating community in Warsaw celebrates all important occasions on the Vistula River. Independence Day is one of those days when boat owners come together to sing the national anthem on the water, then warm up by the bonfire and enjoy the river, the wind, the sand… and Poland.

The organizer of the Independence Cruise 11.11 is Robert Jankowski from the Rok Rzeki Wisły Foundation, and as every year, the Wisła District joins this initiative.
We invite you to take part in the white-and-red cruise, which will start at 11:11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from the beach near the Płyta Desantu. The cruise will last about an hour.

Cruises under the “Wisła District Navigation” program are organized by the Warsaw Greenery Authority.

“Mieszko” – a bat, whose name refers to the first ruler of Poland. The boat’s owner chose this name to highlight the historical importance of the Vistula River as Poland’s main transportation route in past centuries.

Despite its simple construction, the bat Mieszko sails both with the use of an engine and under sail.
