Cruise Route Description

We depart from the Water Terminal on the Flotylla Wiślana Boulevard – a modern marina located near the Poniatowski Bridge, right next to the Copernicus Science Centre. From there, we will sail with the Vistula’s current – downstream, toward the Old Town. Along the way, you’ll see, among other things, the roof of the University Library, the Old Town skyline, the Royal Castle, the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge, and the Warsaw Mermaid from a completely new perspective – from the water level. Then we turn around and sail upstream back to the Water Terminal. It’s a perfect opportunity to relax on board and discover a side of Warsaw you can’t see from land.

Have you ever wondered why there are so many beaches in Warsaw? Have beavers always been swimming so abundantly in the Vistula? Since when have ferries been operating, and wasn’t there once a water tram? Where can you barbecue by the river, and where exactly is Golędzinów? And those birds, and the fish, and the riparian forests — and who plants the flowers along the boulevards? So many questions… but who knows the answers?

The Dzielnica Wisła team – employees of the Warsaw Greenery Authority – are at your service during a one-hour cruise along the Warsaw stretch of the Vistula River. Jan Piotrowski, the Mayor of Warsaw’s Plenipotentiary for the Vistula, will talk about the social and sporting life by the river. Piotr Kołkowicz, a naturalist and landscape architect, will speak about the work of the city gardener and share fascinating nature facts. Anna Bałazy, a landscape architect, will explain how the new boulevards were created and how greenery was integrated into every corner. Iwona Zwolińska, head of the Vistula Department, will share riverside legends and reveal how the city embraced the Vistula and what the revitalization process looked like.
